Job Description

  • The Assistant Security Liaison Officer under the control of his line manager, the security liaison officer will build on and maintain a strong contacts within key host state government authorities and other key partner entities. This will accommodate the highest level of diplomacy and liaison with the various stakeholders on a varied range of security issues.  This will involve frequent trips to the region to conduct liaison and fact finding activities and also whilst accompanying travelers on their journeys as the security subject matter expert (SME).
  • The assistant security liaison officer will fulfill an important role within the British High Commission's Expeditionary Security Team. They will be involved in all aspect of expeditionary travel for staff, which is to areas where British Government advises against travel or limited travel. The existing expeditionary security framework includes the administrative and actual preparation of travelers, the deployment of the travelers and post deployment activities.
  • Due to the nature of the role it is necessary that any applicant be security cleared to SC status, or demonstrate that they can obtain such clearance.
  • As mentioned above the Assistant Security Liaison Officer will routinely undertake other roles to enable the services provided to British High Commission and visiting staff by the Expeditionary Security Team. This will include conducting risk assessments, reviewing travel requests, briefing travelers and senior managers.

Job Responsibilities

  • To provide support in the first instance to the Security Liaison Officer
  • To provide security related advice to the deployed staff
  • To provide routine support ton the expeditionary security team as directed, mostly in the scene of travel risks assessment
  • To help the team in the assessing and analyzing of vulnerabilities and risk to the regions traveled to
  • To Plan and prepare to minimize threats, vulnerabilities and risks to traveling staff
  • To Liaise and communicate with travelers and others on all subjects relevant to the trip
  • To manage financial related aspects of deployments with relevant security stakeholders
  • To ensure and maintain secure environments for travellers and staff working permanently in expeditionary areas

Job Requirements

  • Proven security related liaison experience
  • Experience of producing reports
  • Able to display sound judgement and common sense when given a task, or being asked for advice
  • Good communications skills
  • Fluent in English language
  • Experience of working in the North or/and the North-East of Nigeria
  • Knowledge of regional languages
  • Knowledge of Standard Physical Security
  • Knowledge of dealing with service providers and stakeholders
  • Higher Education obtained (resulting in the award of an academic degree


  • Monthly Salary - ₦514,765
