Purpose of the Job

Purpose of the Job

  • To be Accountable to the director general of the NCDC for disease control, the main purpose of this position is to ensure organizational effectiveness and accuracy by feeding them with operational support to the management of the National Reference Laboratory in Gaduwa, Abuja State, or the Central Public Health  Laboratory located at Lagos State
  • The core input from this position will be leadership support and effective operational management of National Reference Laboratory and Central Public Health  Laboratory

Roles and Responsibilities

  • To assist the budgetary control of laboratory service to ensure best use and management of financial resources
  • To assist in the development of policies and strategies that ensure effective and accurate day by day operation
  • To assist the further development and management of the National Reference Laboratory and Central Public Health  Laboratory, making sure that excellency is in practice
  • To assist documentation of laboratory activities
  • To support the improvement of management processes like supply chain, monitoring plan for the laboratories etc
  • To provide theoretical and practical program management input to ensure the overall output of the laboratory is of a high quality
  • To resolve complex and urgent problems within the laboratory
  • Carrying out any other responsibilities as required by the DG of NCDC

Job Qualifications/Eligibility 

  • Must have Extensive experience of working in a diagnostic laboratory
  • Must be able to understand budget management
  • Must Posses Leadership and Management experience
  • Must have knowledge of the NCDC and the wider Nigerian public health sector and also laboratory sector
  • Must have experience of working with laboratory Information Management System
  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office
  • Participating in the activities of important NCDC/Laboratory committees
  • Must be able to take responsibility of supporting the day by day management of the scientific or technical staff to ensure the successful and effective operation of the laboratories
